Philip, I agree that without prayer,and "sacraments" it is often difficult to support work for justice, particularly for those brought up in an ecclesial context. However just as the Roman Catholic Church is being seriously questioned and challenged in moral areas such as its stance on homosexuality there are many others whose discomfort lies in the area of prayer and liturgy. While the attitude of (some) priests is that other non-priest citizens of the church need to be grateful for their ontologically different presence else we could not "receive Jesus", and the use of language from the 3rd and 4th centuries that has no place in a 21st century liturgical setting it is often difficult to find that sustenance at a "typical" parish eucharist.
